Columbine High School Band Boosters
Uniform Performance Tips

Take uniform home to be cleaned when asked.  If for some reason this is not possible, please tell either Mr. O'Neill or Mrs. Irell so that other arrangements can be made.

Here are some things you should check...

  • Are there any stains that didn't come out in the wash?  If you have time to wash the piece again, please do.  Otherwise, let Mrs. Irell know.
  • Make sure pants are hung to dry with the seams matching, to prevent creases in the wrong places!
  • Are all of the buttons on (both front and back pieces)?  If not, check the washing machine for the pieces.  If you don't have them, let Mrs. Irell know.
  • Is the baldric (sash) intact – no loose sequins or threads – and is it pinned again to the back of the jacket?
  • Are the pants too tight?  They should be fairly loose-fitting so that we see the crease all the way down at the front and back.
  • Are the pants too long or too short?  They should be sitting right on the shoe so that when the student is standing still, there is no sock showing.
  • Are your Dinkles clean?  If not, please clean and polish them so they are ready to go for the next performance.
  • Are your gloves clean?  The only ones we can loan you at a performance are short ones, so please clean your gloves along with your uniform.
On days you will be performing – no matter where – please come prepared...
  • Wear or bring your white show t-shirt
  • Wear or bring your white/grey shorts for underneath your uniform
  • Wear or bring long white socks
  • Make sure your Dinkles are cleaned and polished
  • Make sure you are not wearing nail polish
  • Make sure you don't wear jewelry
Before leaving the school, please make sure you have done the following...
  • Removed jewelry
  • Removed nail polish
  • Cleaned your Dinkles
  • Checked your uniform bag to ensure that all pieces, including gloves, are accounted for
After a Performance...
  • Take gloves home to be cleaned, if needed.  Return them to your uniform bag so that they are ready for the next performance.
  • Take shoes home to be cleaned, if needed.  You may keep a soft cloth and white shoe polish in your locker so that you can clean your shoes at school.
  • If any part of your uniform needs to be cleaned, please talk to Mrs. Irell so that suitable arrangements can be made.
