Columbine High School Band Booster Club, Inc.
Personal Travel Account Policy

Purpose of Personal Travel Accounts:

Personal Travel Accounts are provided as a service to instrumental music members to help defray the personal costs of group travel to performances and competitions for the express purpose of furthering the goals of the instrumental music program as a whole.  In certain instances, funds may be released, at the discretion of the Executive Council and within the confines of the Corporate charter and bylaws, for other purposes related to the furtherance of the program's objectives.

Control of Personal Travel Accounts:

Columbine High School Band Booster Club, Inc. is a Colorado nonprofit corporation, and as such, has strict guidelines as to the use and distribution of funds.  Funds accredited to personal travel accounts are NOT the property of the individual, but of the Booster Club.  The individual may elect to draw against their account to defray approved expenses, but has no right to otherwise direct the use of those funds and may not receive personal distribution of those funds.

Life of Personal Travel Accounts (amended in 1997, 2003):

The Personal Travel Account of a member will be transferred to the General Fund if the member moves out of the State of Colorado.  Personal Travel Accounts will be maintained and the funds set aside for one year after a member leaves the instrumental music program.  After such one year period, the inactive member's account will be transferred to the General Fund, unless the member has a sibling to whom the Personal Travel Account could be transferred in accordance with the Transfer of Personal Travel Account Funds paragraph.

Transfer of Personal Travel Account Funds (amended in 1997, 2003):

Personal Travel Account funds are transferable to a sibling who is already in the instrumental music program or who has registered for the instrumental music program before the one-year inactivity period expires, i.e., an eighth grade student who has registered for instrumental music in his or her freshman year at Columbine before the one-year anniversary of the inactive account of the former member.  No other transfers will be made between member accounts.

All funds generated by the Booster Club are generated for the express purpose of supporting the Columbine High School Band Program.  No funds will be transferred to any other organization unless there is direct benefit to the instrumental music program as determined by the Executive Council.  This expressly includes Personal Travel Account Funds.

If there is any money left in a Senior's Personal Travel Account, and there are no siblings entering the instrumental music program, the Senior may direct his or her money to which activity he or she chooses.  This activity will be for the express purpose of supporting the instrumental music program.

The Executive Council of the Columbine High School Band Booster Club, Inc. has adopted this policy effective October 11, 1994, and as amended January, 1997, and amended again January 2003.
