Food is generally provided for the students at the
marching band competitions and performances. In addition, there are usually
concession stands at the competitions in case your student wants to purchase
additional items. Students are also always welcome to bring their own food
if desired, but nothing but water should be consumed while in
uniform (those white pants stain easily!).
As these can be long days in the great outdoors, please make sure that all
students have appropriate warm- and/or cold-weather clothing layers (the school
dress code applies!), sunscreen, refillable water bottle, and some cash for snack
or incidentals (if desired).
Spectators are encouraged at all events! There is generally a fee for
admission into the competitions which may range from $5$15
per person. Some competitions include a single performance by each competing band
with an awards ceremony following all performances. Other competitions are a
prelim/final format. This format includes a first performance by all bands, followed
by an announcement of bands that progressed to finals. The bands that made it into
finals perform again, with an awards ceremony following. Competitions that are
prelim/finals format often offer a two-tiered admission fee structure (one fee for
prelims, one for finals, or you can buy a combo ticket). The
September 26 and 29 events are single
performance; the Arapahoe Marching Invitational on
October 10 is a prelims/finals format.
